In every Rulebook Review we write, we always have a section to rate on clarity. Last night, Capps and I were watching some coverage of a round-table interview with Masahiro Sakurai about his upcoming Smash Brothers Game. How did this video game related interview teach me something about rulebooks?
IGN tried to jump in on the action and get the news out first for a new character reveal (don't worry, my PacMan was relevant) so they hopped on the site and quickly posted an article.
Now that article looks just fine now right? It's what they had as a placeholder. They said that the game's roster has a total of 33 characters.
Pardon that horrendous pun with the picture! The issue here was this wasn't clear, it didn't present the content the way they wanted. The words "so far" were missing. It rose a minor uproar, people thought that there wouldn't be any more characters in the game, and they were freaking out!
Two simple words can change a LOT of what something means. Choose every word you write carefully! Until next time: Every Game Deserves A Good Rulebook.
