Today we travel to Africa and check out the rulebook for Livingstone! In Livingstone you are riding a steamboat while trying to explore the land and grab gems while being sure you make enough donations to the Queen. If this sounds interesting, you can learn more about it on the Playroom website.
This game happens to be a part of Playroom's Gateway Games™ Line. "The Gateway Games™ Line contains crossover strategy games easy enough for the family to enjoy but deep enough to keep any “gamer” on their toes. The games in this line can quickly and easily be taught to someone who doesn’t regularly play strategy games." Let's see if this is true!
Organization and Layout: The layout is crisp. Nothing feels out of place, and you can read from the beginning to end while playing through your first turn with no effort.
Clarity: Everything was clear. I couldn't find a moment when I felt confused about what I needed to do.
Graphics: There were wonderful pictures about EVERYTHING. Every section had a picture related to it to you could easily find what you were looking for. Plus various sections have slightly different colors to differentiate them even better and it looks really nice. The graphic job in this rulebook is stunning.
Depth: The rulebook covers all of the what if cases you need, though there really are very few within the game.
Writing: No typos and no grammar errors, and everything is presented in a clear fashion without any fluff.
Susan has on many occasions explored new lands for queens as well as read many rulebooks! On the Susan Rating Scale this rulebook gets:
Susan's Explanation: I wish all rulebooks were just like this one. It makes the game wonderful to learn and it's incredibly approachable. This rulebook was so strong it gets:
